Engineering has been an important aspect of life since the beginning of human civilization. Civil engineering is regarded as the mother of engineering and is one of the core and oldest branch of engineering. It was so named to distinguish it from military engineering. Civil engineering is the application of physical and scientific principles for solving the problems of society. Its history is closely linked to advances in human civilization and is basically related to the creation of various types of structures and maintenance.
Lord Vishwakarma is worshiped as the creator of all structures in prehistoric period. With this view, civil engineers are the Vishwakarmas of the present day. Civil engineering is a wide ranging profession, covering construction, designing and maintenance of buildings, bridges, roads, dams, canals, irrigation, water supply system etc, and its history is linked to knowledge of structures, materials science, geography, geology, soils, hydrology, environment, mechanics and other fields.
Civil Engineering at KSVCEM, BIJNOR was started in 2010, to make its contribution towards the development of the society. It was started with an intake of 60 students in the session 2010-11 and is maintained at half intake i.e 30 as of now. The department has a Second storied building with eight different fully equipped laboratories. It offers a four-year degree course leading to the Bachelors degree in civil engineering.
The Department actively promotes curriculum development activity by updating existing courses, developing new courses and preparing resource material for teaching. It also trains the students on various modern software like AUTOCAD, STADD, SAP2000, GEO-5 etc. and equipment like TOTAL STATION, G.P.S. etc., which bridges the gap of academic and professional field. The faculty of Civil Engineering at KSVCEM, is continuously making efforts to impart quality teaching at the undergraduate level to attain excellence and thus to empower.
Provide technical expertise in structural analysis, design, and consulting services for various construction projects. Work on feasibility studies, technical reports, and engineering solutions for complex infrastructure challenges.
Create innovative architectural designs and plans for buildings and structures. Focus on aesthetic appeal, functionality, and sustainability while ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations.
Oversee construction projects from planning to completion. Manage resources, timelines, budgets, and teams while ensuring quality control, safety standards, and project specifications are met.
Develop solutions for environmental challenges in construction projects. Focus on sustainable practices, waste management, pollution control, and environmental impact assessment.
Design outdoor spaces and landscapes that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Create sustainable designs that integrate natural elements with built environments.
Measure and map land areas for construction projects. Use advanced equipment and technology to determine property boundaries, create topographic maps, and provide essential data for engineering projects.
Develop plans and programs for land use in urban and rural areas. Focus on creating sustainable communities, managing growth, and improving infrastructure while considering environmental and social factors.
Support civil engineers in planning, designing, and implementing construction projects. Assist with technical drawings, site inspections, material testing, and project documentation.
